Frequently Asked Questions

Ex d (flameproof) enclosures contain an internal explosion so it can’t ignite the surrounding atmosphere; Ex e (increased safety) prevents arcs, sparks and excessive heat from forming in the first place; Ex ia (intrinsic safety) limits electrical energy so it’s too low to ignite a hazardous atmosphere even under fault conditions. We supply junction boxes and lighting across all three protection types depending on the zone and application.

Yes. Our hazardous area junction boxes, cable glands and lighting are certified to IECEx and ATEX schemes, and installations are designed to comply with AS/NZS 3000 (the Australian Wiring Rules) alongside IEC 60079 series standards for explosive atmospheres.

Most of our hazardous area junction boxes, enclosures and lighting are rated IP65 to IP68, giving protection against dust ingress and high-pressure water jets – suitable for washdown areas, outdoor exposure and offshore environments common in mining, oil & gas and LNG facilities. The right rating depends on your zone classification and installation location.

Yes. We supply cable glands in brass, nickel-plated brass and SS316, with IP66–IP68 protection for general industrial use, plus Ex d and Ex e certified versions to IEC 60079 for hazardous area installations, suiting both armoured and unarmoured cable.

Our industrial enclosures and control cabinets are available in mild steel, SS304, SS316 and GRP, with powder-coated or brushed stainless finishes, selected based on corrosion resistance and environmental exposure requirements for indoor or outdoor installation.

Yes. Our hazardous area LED lighting is IECEx/ATEX certified to Ex d or Ex e, rated IP66/IP67, and operates from -40°C to +55°C, with marine-grade aluminium or SS316 housings suited to mining, chemical plant, LNG and other process facility environments.

Our range is designed to comply with relevant IEC standards, including IEC 60079 (explosive atmospheres), IEC 60529 (IP ratings), IEC 60670, IEC 62208 and IEC 60598, along with ATEX, IECEx, UL, NEMA and AS/NZS 3000 requirements depending on the product and project location – see the Compliance Standards listed under each product above.
